BEATING THE HEAT
Scottish Freddie Journeaux emerged champion in the recent
P500,000 guaranteed poker tournament held at the poolside of wild orchid
resort, besting 131 participants, he was cool as a cat throughout the
tournament, showing no signs of weakness in his game.
Down to just 3 players on the final table, his patience and timing helped him
raise his stack to 70 percent of the total chips played. His heads-up with
Oplong Senapilo took just a few hands to take home the crown and the P137,700
cash plus a Php 11,000 seat to the upcoming Filipino Poker Tour (FPT) five
million peso guaranteed event in June, Oplongs 10s 8c bowed down once the flop
showed Ah,4c and Ks, Freddie holding a suited A and 3 spades, Kh on the turn
was the nail on the coffin and giving him the title.
